Quilts my students have helped make:
Sew Many Quilts, Too Little Time...
School quilts start with an idea for the quilt.
I engage the students in a discussion of what we could do and how it might look.
I cut out squares of muslin at least 6X6 inches, 8X8 gives the students more room to design and color their idea.
Students use a sheet of typing paper cut to 1/4 inch smaller than the fabric square on all sides so that they don't get their design sewn into the seam allowance.
Once they get their design drawn, they lay the muslin on top of it and trace the design to the fabric. Then they color it with fabric crayons or markers. Once they are done I iron it to set the color.
